چکیده

Abstract Background Emergence delirium is one of the most common and troublesome complications seen after inhalational anesthesia, with an estimated 20–80% incidence rate. It can lead to increase in mortality, morbidity, hospital stay, which indirectly reflects a major economic burden. The aim our study compare effect propofol two different doses midazolam prevent emergence agitation children given 5 min before extubation. Seventy-five ASA (American Society Anesthesiologists) Physical Status I–II patients aged 2–14 years who were scheduled for elective surgeries under general anesthesia included study. Patients groups randomized into three 25 each group; group P (propofol 0.5 mg/kg iv), ML (midazolam low dose 0.03 M 0.05 iv) primary objective was prevention children. secondary observe like bronchospasm, laryngospasm, persistent cough, desaturation pediatric patients. Results time taken from surgery 5.11 ± 1.223 8.53 2.326 12.45 2.145 min, respectively, found be statistically significant. observed Cole score >3 14 (56%) P, 7 (28%), 6 (24%) M, respectively. Conclusions Midazolam extubation effective preventing during postoperative period without delay recovery anesthesia.

Comparison of effects of intravenous midazolam and ketamine on emergence agitation in children: Randomized controlled trial

OBJECTIVE A prospective, double-blind, randomized controlled trial to compare the effect of preoperative midazolam or ketamine on the incidence of emergence agitation (EA) following sevoflurane anaesthesia in children. METHODS Paediatric patients (2-6 years old) undergoing ophthalmic surgery were allocated to receive premedication with either 0.1 mg/kg midazolam or 1 mg/kg ketamine. Incidence...

A Comparison between Sedative Effect of Propofol-Fentanyl and Propofol-Midazolam Combinations in Microlaryngeal Surgeries

Considering the growing trend of laryngeal surgeries and the need to protect the airway during and after surgery, among several therapeutic regimens to induce sedation, two regimens of propofol-fentanyl and propofol-midazolam were compared in microlaryngeal surgeries. Forty ASA I-II class patients undergoing microlaryngeal surgeries and referring routinely for postoperative visits were randomly...

Comparison between dexmetomidine and midazolam on early extubation and hemodynamic profile. a randomized double-blind study

Introduction Patients under mechanical ventilation in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) require sedation in order to facilitate ventilator and endotracheal tube tolerance. The sedative agent that must be used should not interfere with early extubation of patients. Midazolam is a benzodiazepine, a common sedative agent used in the ICU, while dexmetomidine is an alpha 2 adrenergic receptor agonist, t...
